More Than a Knot

More Than a Knot

Are those knots in your muscles back again? You just had a good massage, and you REALLY felt great after. But you wish that feeling would last for more than just a day or two.  Maybe there's something you can do to make your sessions have a longer, lasting effect.

Muscles that support your back and neck all day long, contract in unison with spinal joints to create stability and normal motion. But if those joints are Subluxated (stuck and mis-aligned) your muscles end up pulling against unexpected forces... like trying to pull open a door you didn’t know was locked. Muscles experience the same jolt when trying to move a joint that won’t budge - creating recurring trigger points, tightness and the need for frequent massages.

To fix the problem, you must unlock the joints. Chiropractic adjustments restore normal motion and alignment to spinal segments so when freshly massaged muscles contract, they won't re-knot themselves. That's in addition to the resurgence of energy you get when your spine is well adjusted. Massage and Chiropractic certainly go hand in hand.

Keeping Your Health Green

Keeping Your Health Green

You're proud of your lawn. You water it, feed it on schedule and try to keep the neighborhood kids off of it. But you missed a few spots with the fertilizer spreader and now dull, brown patches where the grass was STARVED of potential growth energy begin to show.  A similar situation can happen inside you.

All the cells, organs and tissues that make up your body need an even distribution of neurotrophic (Life sustaining) energy from your Nerve System in order to flourish and grow. If parts of your body are deprived of this energy, likewise you'll develop dull brown patches (disease) on your internal lawn. Chiropractors refer to it as being 'Subluxated.'

The goal of Chiropractic care is 100% coverage of neurotrophic Life energy in your body – and that's achieved by keeping your Nerve System clear of blockages at the spinal level. If you don't want to see ugly, brown, weak patches in your health, stay EVEN and consistent with your Chiropractic care.

Subtracting for Health

Subtracting for Health

New trends in intermittent fasting and time restricted eating have taken the stage as holistic techniques that not only help with weight loss, but can restore entire physiologic systems of your body. It's reported in the medical journal Cell Stem Cell that restricting all food intake (aside from water) for three days can actually reset a damaged immune system.

Where medicine's approach to health favors addition - more prescriptions, more procedures, more therapies - studies like the one above support the concept that 'less is better' when it comes to restoring health and maintaining it for a lifetime. Many health issues resolve not because of what you ADD to your body, but because of the bad stuff you SUBTRACT from it... and Chiropractors have been leading the charge of 'subtracting for better health' since its inception.

On top of your list of 'subtractions' should be the regular detection and elimination of spinal Subluxations - the subtle nerve disturbances that throw your body out of balance and put you in a state of dis-ease. That, in combination with healthy caloric restriction methods like intermittent fasting, can reset your body and your health back to factory settings.

Forest for the Trees

Forest for the Trees

"Seeing the forest for the trees" is an expression of PERSPECTIVE. It's the ability to step back and see the whole picture of a given situation, instead of clinging to a narrow, limited, myopic one. Focusing on the BIG IDEA is necessary to achieving any worthy goal.

We commonly hear newer patients say... my migraines, my sciatica, my fibromyalgia - labeling themselves by their doctor's diagnosis instead seeing themselves as the healthy people they want to be. Unfortunately when it comes to healing, holding on to your symptoms is as beneficial as hugging a tree and never letting go. You can't see the forest of wellness if you insist on clinging to the trunk of disease.

You don't get healthy by focusing on sickness. You get healthy by letting go, stepping back and acknowledging who you REALLY are... an innately gifted human being, capable of healing from above down, inside out. It's our job as your Chiropractor to never let you forget it.

Garbage Cans and Flies

Garbage Cans and Flies

Ever notice that flies like to congregate around dirty, neglected garbage cans?  You don’t usually see them swarming near clean ones. The same can be said for germs, bugs and viruses.

Germs are like flies... they’re opportunistic. Give them a dirty place to settle and they’ll multiply.  Provide a weak host and they’ll take advantage. But that’s not the case in clean, well kept environments.  BJ Palmer, the developer of Chiropractic said ‘if the germ theory was true, we would all be dead…’ He recognized that germs thrive in dis-eased (Subluxated) individuals who can’t fight back, not healthy strong ones.

If you keep your body tidy with proper hygiene, good nutrition and most important - a clear Nerve System, germs and bugs are less capable of taking up residence in you.  And if they make the mistake of trying to, your healthy well-adjusted body will give them the boot!

Never Mind the Media

Never Mind the Media

We're all familiar with FDR's famous quote "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself..." And the command 'fear not' appears in the Bible numerous times. Yet fear seems to be the media's favorite vehicle of choice when delivering any news worth paying attention to... and it's not doing our health any good.

It is well documented - prolonged exposure to stress, whether it be mental, physical or chemical, depresses our immune system. When we’re stressed, our immune system’s ability to fight off antigens is reduced... making us more susceptible to catch and succumb to infections. How ironic it is that the very system we're depending on in light of today’s world events, is being sabotaged by the media's dramatic attempts to hoard our attention.

Now more than ever, it's important for us we remain rational, reasonable and responsible - not only protect those OUTSIDE us, but to protect the immune system INSIDE us. If the media isn't lifting you up, turn it off.
