You wouldn't use a sledge hammer to bust open your front door if the right key was handy to unlock it safely.  The same goes for your spine.  When it comes to unlocking a tough, painful back it's best to seek the advice of a master spinal locksmith (a DC) who knows what they're doing.  In the long run you'll save time, money and frustration hiring the right person for the job.

Fortune tellers read the life line in the palm of a client's hand. Cardiologists interpret the blipping life lines of a patient's EKG. But Chiropractors dedicate their work to the most important life line of them all... the spinal cord and its protective covering, the spine.

The spine itself is an engineering marvel. Made up of articulating bones called vertebrae, each segment lines up perfectly with the next to provide both support to your body and protection to the spinal cord. It's this critical relationship between spinal alignment and the flow of Life through the spinal cord that Chiropractors are devoted to. Distort the alignment of the spine and you distort the flow of Life through the cord. Distort the flow of Life through the cord and you distort the expression of health in your body.

For a Chiropractor, smooth lateral curves and plumb postures are more than just simple diagnostic findings. They’re the validation that Life is flowing freely through the patient like a river. And as long as Life courses through the line, healing is sure to follow.

So what’s with the popping associated with certain types of Chiropractic adjustments?  Isn’t cracking your joints supposed to be bad for you?

Not all Chiropractic techniques involve the ‘cavitation’ of joints (the escape of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide, which releases joint pressure).  Some use table or instrument assisted adjustments where no appreciable cavitation is experienced.  The ones that do however are no less safe, comfortable and effective at reducing spinal fixation, clearing nerve interference (subluxations) and improving your health.  As a matter of fact, it’s been shown by John Hopkins University that joint cavitation (specifically in the hand) does not contribute to the formation of arthritis as falsely believed by grandmothers worldwide!

When you hear the noise from a professionally delivered adjustment, it’s similar to the pressure release you get from opening a bottle of champagne.  It’s like having a party in your spine!  Ultimately, with less pressure your joints move better, line up better and just plain feel better.

A titration test analyzes how many drops of chemical it takes to create a specific reaction - usually a change in solution color.  Drop by drop, the reagent is added until an observable change is seen.  And if asked which drop finally made the difference, the correct answer would be they all did.

Chiropractic care works in similar fashion.  Often a patient will exclaim after a visit '...doc, that last adjustment really did it, I felt better right away.'  In reality, it wasn't just the ONE adjustment that did the trick - the past ones contributed, as will the future ones.  The effect is cumulative.

When adjusted regularly, drop by drop, you eventually reap the rewards in improved health, higher function and realized potential.  If you ever wonder which adjustment changed your Life for the better?  The answer is - they all did, and will continue to do so.

That's what your head and neck basically are. A 12-14 lbs weight balanced on top of a segmented, 2 inch diameter dowel, with a "Twizzler" consistency spinal cord inside. It's not surprising the prevalence of neck pain, muscle tension and nerve irritation now considering the extreme strain those structures are under when you're bent over a computer screen or cell phone all day.

Every inch your head creeps forward from its neutral, relaxed position adds 10lbs of perceived weight on your neck. For the average person glued to their mobile device that's like adding 42-52 lbs of extra strain to your muscles and supporting ligaments throughout the day. Try it for yourself... hold a bowling ball close to your chest, then extended way out in front of you. Doesn't take long to figure out which position taxes your muscles and joints more - resulting in more pain, more stiffness and more degenerative dis-ease.

The solution - do some 'opposing' good for your neck. Ditching the cell phone is an unrealistic request (no one's going to do that). But you CAN incorporate healthy countermeasures like regular Chiropractic adjustments and home traction to mitigate the stress your neck experiences from spending hours on a mobile device. If you don't, your health could end up in the gutter.
