glass of water can put out a small flame, but it won't put out a forest fire – it’s the right tool, but not nearly the right QUANTITY to get the job done.  The same can be said for the amount of Chiropractic care you may need for your particular problem.

The purpose of frequent adjustments is to keep your nerve system clear long enough so your body can grow into a new, healthier state.  For many (especially if you have long standing, chronic health issues) that means a higher quantity of sessions in the beginning to help your body overcome the ‘fire’ going on inside you.  Note, adjustments don't do the healing... it's the time you remain subluxation free that does.

One day at the gym won’t turn you into a professional body builder and a single, low carb meal won't make you skinny.  Exercise and proper nutrition can get you healthy, but they need to be repeated regularly to see real change.  Likewise, desired Chiropractic results come from time, repetition and a sustained clear nerve system.  Don’t expect one session to get the job done.

Remember the days of pulling an 'all nighter' for a major exam - trying to cram an entire semester's worth of work in one, non-stop studying marathon?  Well, you can't get away with that when it comes to your Health and Chiropractic.

There are some who wish they could simply go to the Chiropractor and have years of aches, pains and health issues erased in just one cram session - a Chiropractic all nighter if you will.  But like cramming for a test, a quick Chiropractic patch job is temporary at best.  Last minute adjustments for long standing problems will always yield fleeting results.  It takes sustained, consistent care over time to make measurable changes to bad spines.

So if you think you can re-call a cervical lordosis or undo years of poor bio-mechanics with one 24 hour sleepless Chiropractic binge, think again. There is no such thing as pulling an all nighter when it comes to get your health and your spinal integrity back.

You’ve tried stretching, went to physical therapy and faithfully did all the exercises they prescribed.  But still your spine feels tight, rigid and locked up.  In your case, Chiropractic may hold the right key.

Unlike the gross manipulative therapy done by PT's and osteopaths, or the general movement offered by prescribed exercises, specific Chiropractic adjustments ONLY target the parts of your spine that need work.  Specificity is the key to results - knowing what spinal segments to move, when to move them and how much force to use is paramount to getting a favorable outcome… and that requires a skill set taught only in a reputable Chiropractic College.

You wouldn't use a sledge hammer to bust open your front door if the right key was handy to unlock it safely.  The same goes for your spine.  When it comes to unlocking a tough, painful back it's best to seek the advice of a master spinal locksmith (a DC) who knows what they're doing.  In the long run you'll save time, money and frustration hiring the right person for the job.

Why bring the rest of my family

"Mommy loves going to the Chiropractor. Ever since she's started, we've seen a huge change in her. She used to get headaches every day, but now she rarely gets them. Daddy notices that Mommy sleeps through the night more often now and she wakes up in a much happier mood. She's even doing more around the house and spending more time with us reading, playing and just being a great mom. We never see her popping those pills anymore.

Mommy told us when she goes to the Chiropractor they check her for something called a Subluxation... that's what's been making her sick all these years. They check her spine to see if she needs to get worked on. When she does they do something called an Adjustment to fix her. Mommy's been the healthiest she's been in a long time. We're all so happy for her and we love having our Mommy back. But we have one question,

With Mommy doing so well, we wonder if going to the Chiropractor could help us too. Daddy's always sore after work and he has to take more and more medicine for his high blood pressure. My sister has to take an inhaler every day for her asthma and I hate having to take stuff for my allergies and ear infections. We all want to be healthy like Mommy but we don't know where else to turn. Maybe the Chiropractor can help us too, if Mommy would only bring us to get checked...

If you jump on the scale after every healthy meal you ate, looking for an immediate change, you're going to drive yourself nuts. Doing good things for your body is good - but those good things may not register noticeable changes right away. The same goes for your adjustments.

It's common for clients to hop off the chiropractic table after an adjustment, looking for some instant, measurable change in the way they feel... and there are times when some relief is experienced. However, to expect an immediate resolution of a chronic complaint from one adjustment is no different than expecting to be 10 lbs lighter after just one low carb meal.

Patience is your friend and time is the road you must both travel to reap the health rewards you hope for. It takes work and time for your body to make the best of each Life enhancing adjustment. Be consistent and faithful with your care and you'll eventually experience the lasting results we know you're capable of getting.

In its heyday, the space shuttle would generate nearly 8 million pounds of thrust just to lift itself off the launch pad into the atmosphere.  Once beyond the earth’s gravitational pull, it didn’t require as much effort to stay in space and could effortlessly cruise at 17,500 mph with a fraction of that power.   The same can be said for your Chiropractic care plan.

The start of any healthy endeavor requires more effort – in Chiropractic that means more visits in the beginning to break free from the gravity of dis-ease and build forward momentum.  Once free from the ‘pull’ of poor habits and chronic illness, it requires less effort to keep you aloft.

It takes more effort to get off the initial care launch pad than it does to stay in a healthy orbit.  If you want to get results, expect to put more work in at the beginning of your care.   Your chiropractic team is ready to help you along the way… just stick with the mission plan and you’ll reach your destination.
