glass of water can put out a small flame, but it won't put out a forest fire – it’s the right tool, but not nearly the right QUANTITY to get the job done.  The same can be said for the amount of Chiropractic care you may need for your particular problem.

The purpose of frequent adjustments is to keep your nerve system clear long enough so your body can grow into a new, healthier state.  For many (especially if you have long standing, chronic health issues) that means a higher quantity of sessions in the beginning to help your body overcome the ‘fire’ going on inside you.  Note, adjustments don't do the healing... it's the time you remain subluxation free that does.

One day at the gym won’t turn you into a professional body builder and a single, low carb meal won't make you skinny.  Exercise and proper nutrition can get you healthy, but they need to be repeated regularly to see real change.  Likewise, desired Chiropractic results come from time, repetition and a sustained clear nerve system.  Don’t expect one session to get the job done.

Remember the lead character in Goldilocks and the Three Bears? She didn't settle for too hot, or too cold – too hard, or too soft. She kept trying until she found what was JUST RIGHT. When it comes to fighting disease, your body innately strives for the same thing.

Disease is nothing more than your body performing too much or too little of something. If your thyroid is UNDER active, you have hypothyroidism. If your lungs OVER react to dust in the air, you experience asthma. If your heart pumps too HARD, you have high blood pressure. Health on the other hand is when your body is clearly directed by its inner wisdom to produce, adapt, regenerate, secrete, eliminate, filter and metabolize to a degree that's JUST RIGHT.

Chiropractors recognize that no doctor, pharmacy or research lab on the planet can live up the awesome task of keeping EVERYTHING in your body working JUST RIGHT. Only innate intelligence, the immeasurable genius within you, is capable of handling that job. The best we can do as Chiropractors is to remove the stress that gets in its way. When we do, we know innate will only settle for what's JUST RIGHT inside you.

Knee sore on Monday... Creaky back on Tuesday... Congested on Wednesday - there must be bad weather in the forecast. How many people do you know who attribute their aches and pains to what's going on outside, instead of trying to find and fix the real problem INSIDE?

When your body responds negatively to every change in environment, the problem isn't the weather - most likely you're breaking one or more of the cardinal rules of Health. Proper nourishment, full body motion, adequate rest and internal cleanliness aren't cliché healthy needs. Practicing these basic habits enables your body to thrive amid the stresses it experiences every day. Fail to eat right and your body won't resist the elements. Fail to move your joints fully and even the barometric pressure of weather will wear them down. Now you've become a victim of your environment, instead of being a master of it.

If weather was the real culprit of your aches and pains, wouldn't EVERYONE around you feel the same thing? We all share the same atmosphere!  Instead of blaming the elements, strengthen your nerve system, move your body and build up your innate ability to adapt to whatever mother nature throws your way.

Medical preventative care focuses mainly on the early detection and treatment of disease.  Their thinking - if you catch a condition in its earliest stage (i.e. breast cancer or diabetes), you have a better chance of managing it.  Although that rationale bears some truth, it leaves you waiting for the train wreck to happen before you can do anything about it.

In Chiropractic, preventative care focuses on supporting the ONE system dedicated to preserving the health of your whole body, your Spine and Nerve System.  Because all normal body functions are first patterned in your Nerve System, so must 'dis-ease' be patterned in your Nerves System (subluxation) before it develops into an illness.  It simply makes more sense to avoid the train wreck in your spine, before it manifests in your body.

The best prevention doesn't simply 'test and wait' until you develop the disease... it focuses on removing the cause before it has a chance to manifest.  That begins with interference in your nerve system.  Are your loved ones protecting their health with preventative Chiropractic care?

You wouldn’t call the fire department to blow out a candle, or an electrician to change a light bulb.  Those are simple tasks you can handle on your own.  Yet every day, people call on a specialist or expert for healing a problem their ‘doctor on the inside’ could easily take care of.

Maybe it's lack of understanding, fear of the unknown or concern it could be something life threatening.  Overkill is the norm in the today’s medical world.  Over testing, over diagnosing, over treating… all done for the sake of ‘thoroughness.’  In reality, all it does is strike fear in the hearts of patients who just need to hear the truth.

The greatest challenge we have as Chiropractors is to help you realize how powerful you truly are.  The same intelligence that holds the cosmos together, is holding you together too!  In the rare case you develop a health problem where outside help is needed, rest assured it will be there for you.  In the meantime - pause, take a deep breath and relax.  If your Nerve System is clear, your body is capable of putting out the ‘flame’ on its own.
